Scaling AutoCAD images

Editions

You have many different options for customizing the scaling of AutoCAD (DXF,DWF and DWG format) images. First, you can set whether AutoCAD images are automatically scaled to a specific size, or whether they use an input scale factor.

To automatically scale AutoCAD images on open:

1. Choose Preference image\arrow_shg.gif Options.

2. Click the image\plus_shg.gif beside Format.

3. Click AutoCAD.

4. Under Scaling, make sure that Scale To Fit is selected.

5. Select the width, length, and units to which you want AutoCAD images to be scaled.

6. Click Save. Click OK.

On open, AutoCAD images are now scaled to the page size you specified.

To disable automatic scaling and define an input scale factor for AutoCAD images:

1. Choose Preference image\arrow_shg.gif Options.

2. Click the image\plus_shg.gif beside Format.

3. Click AutoCAD.

4. Under Scaling, click Scale Factor.

5. After "1 Unit =", type or select the scale factor to apply to AutoCAD images on open. Select the equivalent size in inches or cm.

6. Click Save. Click OK.

Newly opened AutoCAD images will be displayed at the specified scale factor. (Currently open AutoCAD images are not affected.)

Other options can be set by editing the Image.ini file.

To automatically scale AutoCAD images on import:

1. Open the Image.ini file in a text editor.

2. In the [File] section, find the Use Raster Mapping on Vector Load= keyname. After the equal sign, type 1. This makes AutoCAD images fit over the raster image and take on its resolution on import.

3. Save the Image.ini file, and close it.

When you restart Imagenation, the change takes effect. On import, AutoCAD images fit over the raster image on the page (if any).

To define an output scale factor for images saved under the DXF format:

In the [File] section of the Image.ini file:

1. Find the DXF Output Scale Factor= keyname. After the equal sign, type the scale factor to apply to DXF images on save.

2. Find the "DXF Output Units=" keyname. After the equal sign, type 1 to save the image in inches or 2 to save it in centimeters.

3. Save the Image.ini file, and close it.

When you restart Imagenation, the change takes effect. DXF images will be saved at the specified scale factor.
