Options for customizing Imagenation

When configuring Imagenation for specific work environments, you have a number of options. Note that this Help file focuses on the Image.ini file and the command line options.

Preference Options dialog box

Through the Preference menu, you can open a dialog box that allows you to set global preferences for Imagenation. For example, you can predefine the attributes of each markup tool, or how images will be displayed on open. These preferences can be saved to the Image.ini file and used from session to session. They are described in the Imagenation Help (image.hlp).

Image.ini file

The Image.ini file is a text file that stores all of the Imagenation default values. By editing this file, you can configure certain Imagenation functions that cannot be set through the Preference Options dialog box. For details, click What can I do with the Image.ini file?

Command line

Using the command line, you can specify the CFG file and INI file to use with Imagenation. You can also open files or ODMA documents. For details, click Using the command line options.

CFG file

The ConFiGuration (CFG) file defines what menus and commands are displayed. The edition of Imagenation that you have defines what menus and commands you can use. If you have access to the Image.src file, you can edit it to create custom CFG files. For details about editing the SRC file, refer to the Imagenation CFG Help (cfg.hlp). Otherwise, you can select different CFG files (shipped with Imagenation) to alter the user interface. For details, click Changing the configuration file.

API

Imagenation OLE Automation API, Imagenation DDE API, and Imagenation C API allow you to customize the user interface, and to control Imagenation programmatically. For details, refer to the OLE Automation Help (oleauto.hlp), DDE API Help (ddeapi.hlp), or C API Help (capi.hlp).
