Troubleshooting printing problems

Several problems can occur when printing. This topic lists some of the more common ones and offers solutions.

I cannot print in Landscape mode.

Open the Image.ini file in a text editor. In the [System] section, set the Print Landscape keyname to 1 (not 0).

I am experiencing memory problems on print.

In Imagenation, choose File image\lgarrow_shg.gif Print. Click the Options tab. Select the Use Small Print Buffer check box. This will cause printing to use less of the computer RAM. Note that printing will also be slower.

I am getting print errors, such as incomplete prints, on my HP 650 DesignJet, IBM 4037 PS, or Digital Server 20 Turbo PS.

Open the Image.ini file in a text editor. In the [System] section, set the Print Buffer Size value to 32. For details, see Setting a print buffer size.

Printing is really slow.

If you have a computer with 16 MB of RAM or more, edit the "Print Buffer Size" keyname in the Image.ini file to increase its value. Also make sure that the Use Small Print Buffer check box in the Options category of the Print dialog box is cleared.

Some rasters fail on print.

Are the rasters that fail to print transparent or translucent? If so, you can correct this problem by setting the Alternate Stretch Mode keyname in the [Print] section of the Image.ini file to 1.

"Actual size" printing is not really actual size.

Open the Image.ini file in a text editor. In the [Print] section, set the Scale Correction (applies in both directions) and Aspect Correction (applies in the horizontal direction) keynames to an appropriate multiplier. (For example, if the page is half as long and one-quarter as wide as it should be, use values of 2.0 and 2.0.) Save the Image.ini file and restart Imagenation.
