Format associations in Windows 2000 and XP

Windows 2000 and Windows XP contain a feature which allows each user on a single machine to associate file formats with multiple applications. These custom file associations override the associations created while installing the Plug-in. This may prevent users from launching the Plug-in by double-clicking on a document file in Windows Explorer, or by choosing Open in Explorer's right-click context menu.

For every user to open specific file types in the Plug-in, each user of the computer will have to make sure that each required file type is associated with the Plug-in as the default viewer.

If you do not want to specifically set these associations, you can make your users aware of file opening methods which will allow them to select the Plug-in even if the file type is otherwise associated.

To associate a format with the Plug-in from Windows Explorer:

1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the location of the file to open and right-click the file.

2. Choose Open With and click Choose Program.

In the Open With dialog box:

3. Select Imagenation Application from the list of programs.

4. Enable the "Always use this program to open these files" check box.

Note: If you do not check this option, Imagenation will not become the default application but will still appear in the right-click context menu under Open With.

5. Click OK.

You can now double-click the file and it will open in the Plug-in.
