Sometimes raster images have multiple problems--they are crooked, dirty, mirrored…. We recommend that you correct them in the following order.
1. Rasterize them, if the file is bad. (See Correcting bad files)
2. Make them positive, if negative. (See Making a negative image positive)
3. Despeckle them, if dirty. (See Despeckling an image and Filling in holes on an image)
4. Deskew them, if crooked. (See Overview: Deskewing an image)
5. Crop them, to remove extraneous sections. (See Overview: Cropping a raster)
6. Flip them, if mirrored. (See Mirroring a raster image)
