Scanned images can contain "noise"--unwanted holes in black areas of the image. You can fill in holes up to a specified size from the active raster image. Note that this command works only on bilevel raster images.

To fill in holes on the active raster image:

1. Choose Raster ® Despeckle.

In the Despeckle dialog box, under Hole Fill:

2. Type the maximum Hole Width/Length: an integer from 1 to 253.

This is the size of one side of the square area within which the hole to fill must fit.

3. Type the Hole Size--any integer from 1 to the square of the Hole Width/Length number.

4. Under Speckle Removal, type 0 (zero) in the Speckle Size text box. Click OK.

A progress indicator appears as white holes are filled in on the image.
