Before you can cut an area of the image, you must have an active edit layer on the page.

To find out how to place one, click Adding an edit layer.

The shape and behavior of Cut/Copy areas is defined in the Cut/Copy category: Edit Preferences or Edit Options dialog box.

To cut an area of an image:

1. If the Apply to Active Raster Only check box is selected in Edit Preferences, make sure that an active raster layer appears on the page.

2. image\cmcut_shg.gif Choose Edit ® Cut.

The pointer changes to: image\scissor_shg.gif

3. Draw the cut area in the selected shape. For details, click Drawing shapes.

The defined area is copied to the Clipboard, and is filled with the background color, which hides the image underneath. The Cut command is no longer active.
