Consolidating layers is similar to rasterizing them, but it creates edit layers instead of raster layers. Consolidating layers means combining a base layer and its CAD layers, or two or more vector images or text documents, into one edit layer.

To consolidate edit layers:

In the Layers window:

1. Select the names of the edit layers to consolidate. For details, click Selecting layers in the Layers window.

2. Right mouse click a selected layer name.

3. From the menu that appears, choose Consolidate.

4. A message box appears, informing you that this command cannot be undone. Click OK to continue.

The selected edit layers are consolidated. The new layer retains the name of the selected layer closest to the top of the list in the Layers window.

Note that when a base layer is selected, all of its CAD layers are consolidated.
