The Layers window (Preference ® Layers) displays the names of all layers on the current page.
You can select the name of one or more layers, then right mouse click the selected names to display the Layers window menu. The options available in that menu depend on the type and number of layers selected. They include the following.
appears when two or more layers, or one hidden layer, are selected. Displays the selected layers.
appears when two or more layers, or one displayed layer, are selected. Hides the selected layers.
appears when two or more layers are selected. Displays the hidden layers, and hides the displayed layers.
You can also show or hide layers by double-clicking their names. See also: Displaying and hiding layers
appears when one inactive layer is selected. Activates it.
appears when one active layer is selected. Deactivates it. See also: Activating and deactivating layers
appears when an edit layer containing CAD layers whose names are displayed is selected. Hides the names of the CAD layers.
appears when an edit layer containing CAD layers whose names are hidden is selected. Displays the names of the CAD layers. If the layer is in DGN format and contains Reference and Level information, that will be indicated when the layer is expanded. See also: Expanding base layers
appears when two or more layers are selected. Opens the Compare Layers dialog box that allows you to select different layer display options. See also: Comparing layers
opens the Select Color list in which you choose a new color for the selected layers. See also: Changing layer colors
appears when the page contains two or more layers, but only one layer is selected. Allows you to move the selected layer to a new position. See also: Moving layers
appears when two or more edit layers, or when a one edit layer containing CAD layers, are selected. Combines the selected layers into a single edit layer. See also: Consolidating edit layers
appears when one layer is selected. Displays technical information about that layer, and about the entire document, allowing you to change some of this information. See also: Getting layer information
