You can rotate an individual part, multiple parts, or an entire 3D model. The angle of rotation is predefined at 45 degrees, rotating the selected parts clockwise on the defined axis. You can also define a custom rotation angle.

Click Reset in the Transformations window to return the part or model to its original position. Note that only highlighted parts will return to their original position. If no parts are highlighted, the entire model will return to its original position.

To rotate a part:

1. Choose 3D ® Model Explorer.

In the Model Explorer:

2. Select the part or parts to rotate. For details, click Highlighting Parts and Faces.

3. Choose 3D ® Transformations.

In the Transformations window:

4. Select an axis.

5. In the Rotate section, click:

·   image\rotateleft_shg.gif to rotate the part to the left.

·   image\rotateright_shg.gif to rotate the part to the right.

To rotate a part using a custom rotation angle:

In the Model Explorer:

1. Select the part or parts to rotate. For details, click Highlighting Parts and Faces.

In the Transformations window:

2. Click Advanced.

3. Select Rotate.

Under Axis of rotation:

4. Define the X, Y, and Z coordinates (either positive or negative) for the 3D vector. The model will rotate around this new vector.

Under Degree:

5.  Define the rotation in degrees using a positive value to rotate clockwise or a negative value to rotate counter-clockwise.

6. Click Rotate.

The values are not saved after the dialog box is closed.
