The View Options category of the 3D Options dialog box (3D ® Options, View Options) defines how the current page (or pages) is displayed.

The View Options category of the 3D Preferences dialog box (Preference ® 3D, View Options) defines how future documents are scaled and rotated. It does not affect the active document.

These are display changes only. They do not change the actual file data.

View Mode

defines how the 3D document is displayed and how you may interact with it.

2D Projection

displays the 3D document as a series of views in one two-dimensional drawing. You can view the document as you would any other two-dimensional document in Imagenation.

3D Model

displays the 3D document as a three-dimensional model. You can rotate, pan, and zoom in and out of the model. You can also print the document, and create a raster image for editing.

Initial View

appears in 3D Preferences only. Choose one of the 3D views to define which side of the 3D model will display when 3D documents are opened and the 3D Model mode is selected.

Display Style

Autospin

when selected, the 3D model turns automatically according to the angle and speed at which you drag the pointer.

Bounding Box

when selected displays the 3D model in a transparent container to indicate the model's extents. You can use the bounding box to help you visualize the movement or position of Cross-Section Planes or perspective projection.

Perspective Projection

displays the model so that its scale decreases according to its distance from the viewer. This view simulates reality where objects appear to converge at a distant point away from the observer.

Rotate Step

defines how much the 3D model rotates when you use the X, Y, and Z Axis Rotation buttons. Select or enter a value, and select degrees or radians.

Default Part Color

sets the color of parts for 3D document that do not have part colors defined.

Rendering Type

specifies whether to display one (Single Sided) or both (Double Sided) sides of the 3D model. For details, see Render Types. This option applies to Native 3D formats only.
