Rasterizing documents

In some work environments, you only want users to work with rasters. Yet, you may still want users to mark up documents. This is often done by automatically adding edit layers to pages. (For details, see Adding edit layers automatically.)

But, when users perform raster editing operations such as cropping, deskewing, and despeckling, they want the action performed on the entire document, not just the raster layer. Therefore, the layers must be rasterized before the operation is performed. To make this process invisible to users, set the rasterize keynames in the SRC file.

To rasterize documents before carrying out raster operations:

1. Open the SRC file in a text editor.

In the [System] section:

2. Type rasterize on crop=1 to rasterize the document before cropping it.

3. Type rasterize on deskew=1 to rasterize the document before deskewing it.

4. Type rasterize on despeckle=1 to rasterize the document before despeckling it.

5. Type rasterize on raster=1 to rasterize the document before rotating, resizing, mirroring, or making it negative.

6. Save the SRC file and compile it. (For details, see Compiling a CFG file.)

All of these keynames can also be set to 2 to unlock their counterparts in the Imagenation INI file. For details, see "rasterize on..." keynames (Image.ini file).

These keynames are also useful with the "rasterize on save" keyname. For details, see Saving documents.
